For all the winners & photo of this year's Scarecrow Trail!

Residents, businesses and community groups excelled once again with this year's scarecrow trail, themed on Book & Comic characters!

There were 29 in all, with older classics like Moby Dick & Captain Ahab, Winnie-the-Pooh and Peter Pan along with newer favourites such as Bunny & Monkey, Greg Heffler and Captain Underpants, plus a handful of tricky ones that got families pondering! Hundreds of trail maps sold over the half-term period and participants commented how creative and talented the scarecrows were and how hard it was choosing their favourite!

There were lots of smiling families & friends out and about, with lots of feedback saying how much fun they'd all had! A lovely way to get some fresh air and exercise whilst being entertained by their favourite books & comics!

As in previous years, we were very fortunate to have the support from community partners to help make the event as successful as it is, so a huge shout out to them.

To round off the event again, we had a prize-giving/social at The Robin Hood on Sunday, the last evening of the trail. There was a fantastic turn out with the pub full to congratulate the winners and villagers got to meet people behind some of the scarecrow creations! A few of the scarecrows even turned up for a tipple or two!

On that note, onto the prizes, there were three categories and the Top 3 in each were......

Fundraising

All fundraising go towards making the children's education at St John's Primary School a memorable and enjoyable experience.

We have recently funded an extra 15 iPads, cases and storage trolley to add to the 15 already in situ (also paid for by the PTA). An excellent boost to the school's IT provision and will be a huge benefit across the years.

We were successful in a recent funding application from the R.C.A who generously donated £2,000 towards new playground markings including snakes and ladders, a mirror me 3 station, compass clock, 4-way hopscotch and a mini-trail.

Thank you so much for your contributions, it's very much appreciated!
