Recap of Our Exciting Quiz Night

What an evening we had at our most recent quiz night! If you managed to get a team together and attend, we trust you had a great time. With 12 teams ready to compete, including 3 teams of our very own school staff, the competition was fierce and the energy high.

The Competition

Our winners from the first quiz night confidently re-entered the competition, hoping to defend their title. However, the quiz had other plans for them as they finished in joint third place. Joining them in third place was a new team, Pengwinners - a lively group of year 2 mums. The winners of this quiz night were none other than Quiztopher Bigwins, who were runners up in the last competition. They arrived as confident as they left, securing their victory with style and aplomb.

The Unfortunate Losers

On the other end of the spectrum, our unfortunate losers this time were newcomers, the Hackett - James. This team, comprised of two members of staff from the breakfast/after school club and their partners, took their losing trophies with good humor, declaring that this was just a warm-up and they won't be at the bottom next time.

The Atmosphere

Alongside the thrill of the competition, there was plenty of fun and camaraderie. With snacks on the tables and a bar that sold out (a massive thank you to Gemma for the mad dash to restock), the atmosphere was buzzing with excitement. It was a night of laughter, challenge, and community.

Looking Forward

We're already gearing up for our final quiz night of the school year - with the date to be confirmed soon. So, start forming your teams and get ready for another exciting night of trivia and friendly competition.

Fundraising Success

We're thrilled to announce that we raised a fantastic £315 from this quiz night. As we look forward to our final quiz of the year, we're hopeful to surpass this total. It's not just about the fun and games; it's also about coming together to support our school fundraising events.

It is with great joy that we recap on the exciting happenings of our recently concluded Parent-PTA logo design competition! The competition was a grand opportunity for our talented youngsters to showcase their flair for design and creativity. The event, which ran over the half term week, received a heartwarming response, with children pouring in their entries full of enthusiasm and ingenuity.

Every child who entered the competition received a small gift as an appreciation of their effort and participation. The selection process was not an easy task, considering the amazing designs we received. It indeed took some time for us to vote for the class winners!

We had the entries on display in the school hall since last week. If you visited our school for the quiz, you might have noticed these striking pieces of art. The display was not just an exhibition of the designs, but also a testament to the extraordinary talent our children possess.

The voting process was conducted fairly and transparently. A blind vote was held through our PTA Whatsapp group, enabling all the PTA committee members to participate in the process. The committee members who participated in the voting exercise included Emma Moncrief, Chelsi Chapman, Liz Bailey, Kylie Lindley, Gemma Louch, Kirsty McMahon, Emma Machin, Jo Jukes, Jenny Pass, and Becky Hornby. Each committee member voted on an entry per class.

From the class winners, another round of blind voting was conducted to decide the overall winner. The design by this winner is set to become our new PTA Logo! We're sure the suspense is building up, but hold on just a moment longer for the big reveal.

The class winners have all been informed this week, and each received their well-deserved prize. And now, the moment we have all been waiting for - the overall winner of the competition. Congratulations to Chloe Year 6, she has been told today and received an Amazon gift voucher as a token of appreciation and recognition for their exceptional design.

This competition was not just about designing a logo; it was about fostering creativity and teamwork among our pupils. We are incredibly proud of all the participants and their efforts. Stay tuned for more such exciting events in the future!

The Beginning of Book Week

With the run-up to celebrating Book Week, Aimee got her creative juices flowing. She spent an entire weekend drawing book covers and characters. It wasn't just for fun, though. These works of art were used to decorate the doors around the school. The children absolutely loved seeing them. It brought a touch of magic to the celebration, enhancing our shared love for books.

New Library Opening

Another exciting event was the official opening of our new library. It's conveniently situated at the edge of the hall. Now that it's open, the children can start completing their challenge charts. There are so many adventures and new worlds waiting for them in those books.

The Outdoor Library

But that's not all. We're also planning to open an outdoor library this coming week. While we still have a bit of organising to do, we're already starting to fill it with books. It's more than just a library, though. We're equipping it with waterproof and picnic blankets so that the children can sit and read on the playground and eventually, the school field. We've even added some blankets for them to snuggle under if the spring air is a bit chilly, and some comfy cushions for a cozy reading experience.

The Calm Playground

With the addition of the outdoor library, the middle playground is undergoing a transformation. It will now be known as "The Calm Playground". This change is sure to bring a new and relaxing dynamic to the children's playtime. And that's not all. Keep an eye out for more changes coming to the tower soon enough!

Gratitude

We must extend a huge thank you to Hardstaff Barrriers. They generously provided the PTA with £500 in funding. This donation has greatly helped us in making these transformations in the middle playground. Without their assistance, we wouldn't have been able to achieve it so soon. We look forward to sharing more news about our involvement with Hardstaff Barriers in the near future.

Wow! What a fantastic way to conclude Book Week for the children! A massive thank you and a special shout-out to Gemma for all of her hard work – planning, organising and yes, selling too. The result? A sell-out event that left everyone thrilled and eager for the next one.

One notable success was the pre-orders. They went down a storm, with many parents expressing their appreciation for the QR code option. Anything that makes the process quicker and simpler is a win in our books. If it's working for you, we'll keep doing it!

Did I mention the amazing prizes? We were extremely fortunate to receive such generous donations. It's not every day you get a chance to win a family ice skating pass from the Nottingham Ice Arena, or Showcase cinema tickets courtesy of Adele, or a climb pass from Clip and Climb. It's safe to say that the excitement levels were running high.

And the excitement didn't stop there. The school leadership team (SLT) agreed to some special treats during school time! Fancy spending lunch with your friends on the Golden table on a Friday lunchtime? Or maybe extra playtime for your class sounds like fun? How about sitting next to your best friend for the day? All these options were on the table, and the kids were over the moon.

As if that wasn't enough, we had our own treats up for grabs too. There were family tickets to the next school disco scheduled in June, and sweets for the whole class on a Friday after school.

We couldn't have done any of this without the gracious donations from our sponsors and the support from our attendees. We're extremely grateful to everyone who donated prizes and to everyone who came to the event and purchased a Wonka bar. Through your support, we raised an amazing £142.55!

So, thank you again for helping us make the end of Book Week a huge success. We can't wait to do it all over again next year. Who knows? Maybe we'll be able to beat this year's record. Here's to more books, more fun, and more memorable moments.

A massive shoutout to Clip and Climb for showering us with tickets for our Wonka Bar sale! We are over the moon with gratitude because without awesome businesses like them, we wouldn't have these cool prizes to offer you!

Let's not forget our other generous pals: Nottingham Ice Arena, who gifted us a family ice skating pass, and The Showcase, who hooked us up with cinema tickets. We're surrounded by such kind-hearted rockstars!

We can't have a PTA if don't have the volunteers.....

e

Without our superhero volunteers, the PTA party can't kick off! And hey, no volunteers means no dazzling fundraisers. Sad, right? Because without those funds, we can't sprinkle magic on our school or upgrade the kiddos' learning adventure at Crossdale Primary.

Forget the nerve-wracking interviews and all that jazz – we just want eager parents, grandparents, or guardians to dive into the fun with us! Whether you're a busy bee or have time to spare, all hands on deck!

Come one, come all with your spunky fundraising ideas! No need for an invite, just swoop in whenever you're ready. Our PTA squad is a blast - chat with any member (who's who? Just ask around!) and you'll be part of the gang in a jiffy! 🎉
