Wow! Coopers Lane you are amazing! This week you have done a completely mind blowing 1418.82 miles..... that means we've made it to the North Pole - Congratulations!

The challenge isn't over yet though, it doesn't finish until 13th December - can you get us home by then?

Our fundraising total now stands at £1115 - fabulous, thank you!

Please do keep sharing the GoFund Me page - it's the easiest way for your friends and family to pay in their sponsorship, but give us a shout if you need a paper form for cash donations. These should be returned to the school on Monday 14th December.

I know what you're really here for though is the week's leader boards- a couple of announcements first. We are really excited to announce that thanks to some amazing donations we've got even more prizes!

EVERY participant will get a North Pole goody bag for working so hard and being so awesome!

We now have two Class Prizes - one for KS1 and one for KS2. The key stage class that covers the most distance will receive the Giant Water Bottles, and the £50 Waterstones voucher for their class library. 2nd place Key Stage prize TBC.

Massive thank you to Club Coach Jacks Lampon who was up until the wee small hours checking each entry and crunching the stats for us - she added the journeys recorded as runs in error, made the sibling adjustments, took the parent solo trips out (remember to turn Strava off at Drop Off!) and removed accidental public transport. It's a mammoth effort and hugely appreciated by us all.

Drum Roll please....

Congratulations to St Pauls & Wimbledon who are our current KS1 & KS2 class leads, remember this can all change, we're travelling until 13th December so get your classmates signed up!

St Pauls BRC & Wimbledon HR are the current individual leads, and Mr Mole has just regained the Teacher's Top spot by just 1.18miles! Who will be in the lead at the end of this week?

Another prize - Thank you Waterstones!

Coopers Lane you are SMASHING it - well done!

Wow doesn't even cover it - our amazing team of pupils and staff have covered an incredible 1151.69 miles in the last week! Bringing our grand total travelled to 1604.02 miles - that places us in the Greenland Sea well on our way to the North Pole!

It's a phenomenal effort from everyone involved, and every step and wheel turn does make a difference. No matter where on the leader board you are, you're amazing - thank you! And it's great to see our fundraising totaliser going up as well - you've now raised £815 through online donations - please do keep sharing our GoFund me page, and if you're collecting cash sponsorship remember to print out our form that the school emailed - if you need a copy just let us know and the PTA will get one to you.

Now speaking of leaderboards I know you all want to know where you're placed at the end of week two - and boy is it close at the top. Congratulations to St Pauls who have held on to their lead - but Wimbledon and Moorgate aren't far behind!

there is still plenty of time for things to change - remember the challenge runs until 13th December so get more of your classmates on board and Get Active!

Our individual leader board is below - Ms Maynard is leading the teachers' pack closely chased by Mr Mole, I wonder who will be leading by the end of week 3!?

Thanks to our generous sponsors: Frog Bikes,  Giant Bikes,  Vaidas Bicycles and Waterstones at the end of the challenge we will be awarding prizes to:

Wow - thank you Giant Bicycles!

It's almost the end of week 2 - how many miles have you clocked up for our Get Coopers Lane to the North Pole challenge? Have you managed to move up the leaderboard?

Remember, you can still log activity over the weekend, as long as its entered into the Strava app, before Sunday evening. The class leaders at the moment are ST PAULS - can your class knock them off the top spot ?

So even though it's going to be a bit wet and soggy this weekend, why not go for scoot in the park, a walk through the woods or a bike ride along the Thames.

And if you need any more incentives to join in, check out these amazing prizes from Giant Bicycles! Loads of colourful water bottles - one of which could be yours. Just sign up, get active, win prizes and raise much need funds for school.

All the details on how to get involved are in the posts below and remember if you need any help just give us a shout: info-pta@cooperslane.org.uk

Every year, Coopers Lane PTA raises thousands of pounds and donates this money to the school for various projects & resources that they need. But since Covid 19, we've had to cancel all our fundraising events.

We're still doing everything we can to raise funds in innovative and fun ways. But can you help us just a little bit more?

If you're working from home during the pandemic, donating the equivalent of a single commute each month will help us fund exciting Christmas events and so much more, over the next few months.

Our school, like a lot of schools, is facing a funding shortage due to the crisis and we really want to help them by raising as much money as we can.

It’s easy to sign up. Just check out our dedicated website www.donateyourcommute.co.uk and follow the instructions. You can donate £3, £5 or £10 – every donation will help Coopers Lane to continue to thrive in these difficult times !

We know life is uncertain for everyone at the moment, but if you can help, please do !

Thank you.

Coopers Lane you're smashing it!

Team coach Jacks Lampon has worked her magic with the stats - adding in missed rides, taking out accidentally recorded parent solo trips, allocating sibling journeys to relevant classes... (it's a good job she loves spreadsheets as well as cycling!) she was up late into the night but at 1am this morning the results were in and you've blown us away

This week you've covered an amazing 452.33 miles!

That means we've left UK soil already and are now starting to cross the North Sea - we're off the east coast of Scotland and well on our way!

Congratulations to St Paul's who are currently topping the whole class leader board with an impressive 48.59 miles, but Green Park are close on your heels with 41.2 miles! It's early days yet and every chance for another class to overtake - every mile counts so get your friends signed up!

Thanks to incredible support from our sponsors we are delighted to announce we can offer prizes to the two individuals who go furthest in each year group, as well as overall Key Stage winners (and of course to the member of staff who goes collects the most miles!)

Here's the leader board as it currently stands:

We're loving hearing how active everyone is getting and we've been sent some great photos and maps of what you've been up to - keep them coming!

But of course this is about supporting the school as well - and our community certainly doesn't disappoint! When we checked this morning our GoFund Me page had reached £300 and it's still going up - please do share with friends and family, it would be amazing to match our 2664 miles with £2664 for our awesome school!

We have had a few questions about what activities count towards our challenge. Any unassisted activity - eg cycling, walking, scooting, running that the pupils (or staff!) do - so that can be the school run, a walk or ride in the evening or weekend, a hike up a mountain or a jog along the beach, just as long as they are active! All we ask is that the children are the ones doing the activity.

Details of how to get involved are in the posts below, if you need any help getting signe up just drop us a message: info-pta@cooperslane.org

Earlier this week our Team Coach Jacks Lampon met Richard from Vaidas Bicycles to collect an amazing haul of goodies!

We've been blown away by the support our challenge has been receiving from the school and wider community.

We are hugely grateful to Richard from Vaidas Bicycles for sponsoring our event and adding so generously to the prizes on offer for the students and classes that cover the most distance on our way to The North Pole!

We've had big smiles this week as we've been hearing of families going out on extra walks and rides - or staying out a bit longer to round up to that extra miles- one Year 1 competitor even got up early to fit in an extra dog walk before school!

Don't worry if you've not signed up yet - there is still plenty of time to #GetActive - so join in and help Take Coopers Lane to the North Pole!

This fundraising challenge is open to all pupils and staff at Coopers Lane Primary School - details of how to sign up are in the post below - do drop us an email if you need any help (info-pta@cooperslane.org)

Please sponsor us if you can- we are aiming to raise £2664 to match the 2664 miles to the North Pole, all money raised goes to support our amazing school and pupils. You can support us online via our GoFund Me page

Thank you!

Get active - raise money - win prizes - support out school!

More than ever we are proud of our school community and of how it has come together at this time.

More than ever, we are conscious of how important it is for us all to be more active, to be healthier, to reduce the pollution around our wonderful school.

So when the suggestion was made to create an event, a challenge, we could still take part in as whole school even if we can't gather on mass, that we could get excited about and wouldn't be cancelled by another lockdown, it seemed just perfect, and so "Take Coopers Lane to the North Pole" was born.

It is 2664 miles from our school to the North Pole, and collectively we are asking the pupils and staff to cover that distance before December 13th. The school run (scoot and cycle!) can all count as well any weekend exercise, team members can record their distance by joining our Strava team (details in post below) or by emailing their distance covered to info-pta@cooperslane.org.uk

Each week the PTA will update everyone on how far we have travelled and how much we have raised (donations can be made online via our GoFund me page, a students will be given a sponsorship form for cash donations).

But what is a challenge without prizes!?

thanks to some amazing support we are delighted that prizes will be awarded including to:

The class that covers the greatest distance

The pupil (KS1) that covers the greatest distance

This pupil (KS2) that covers the greatest distance

The member of staff that covers the greatest distance

Huge thank you to the first of our sponsors - FrogBikes for the generous goodies, we can't wait to award them at the end of term!

So come on Coopers Lane - #GetActive this November and join our team to take Coopers Lane to The North Pole for Christmas!

DOS

  • Do remember to stop your activity tracker once the children have been dropped off.
  • Do continue to maintain Social Distancing, your allocated school start time, and road safety.
  • Do use the app with Parent/Carer supervision at all times.
  • Do let your club coach know if you accidentally recorded personal data so that we can try to remove it.
  • Do get friends and family to sponsor you for the PTA fundraiser
  • Do have an awesome time!

DONTS

  • Dont record Parents/Careers personal activity data to the club.
  • Dont share your login with anyone.
  • Dont upload any photos of your child or their friends, and do not have a profile picture. We can track you on username alone.
  • Dont be shy to ask for any help.

NOTES:

If parents or carers already actively use Strava then you will need a separate login which requires a separate e-mail address.

Strava is being used to gather the data, but statistics will be monitored outside of the app in order to assist with multi child family data.

So that everything is recorded fairly and all children are given an equal chance at the leader board, we will be assuming that everyone within a family will be doing all activities at the same time together. if your children intend to do activities separately to each other then the children would need separate logins (and possibly separate smart phone access) which we understand is not really practical.

Strava is a public app and with the Privacy settings set to Followers then only followers can view your journey map. However if you would like additional security either make sure you do not start activity on your doorstep, or alternatively you can set a Privacy Zone where data will not be tracked within say 200m of your home. However please note that any activity within this privacy zone will not be tracked and contributed to the leader board. Also you can make sure you decline follow request from anyone (except Club Coach Jacks Lampon). Please contact us if you need assistance to set up a privacy Zone.
